I have been on a reading hiatus for over 6 months now. I've had four books sitting on my desk throughout this entire time that I haven't even bothered to pick up. Yesterday I came into work and our server was down for pretty much the entire morning which left me with absolutely nothing to do so I decided to pick up one of the books. Slaughterhouse-Five was my pick. I read through the morning until our server was fixed.

Now my job is very boring, when I have nothing to do I have to scan years worth of correspondence. So I decided to keep reading while I was scanning. I have always kept to reading at work because I usually can't stay focused if I read at home.

This book was crazy good and I just did not want to stop reading it. When I got home I only had about 70 pages left and I was destined to finish it. With a 5 year old running around and Preston jammin on his guitar I was trying to figure out the best way to stay focused while reading. I decided to see if listening to the classic piano Pandora station would help drain out everything else and keep me focused. Well it worked like a charm. Piano to me is very soothing and I was 100% focused on what I was reading and was able to finish the book.

Anywayyyyysss... I loved loved loved this book. The author keeps you on your toes the entire time. There were no boring parts at all. He jumps around a lot so you are forced to pay attention to what is going on (So it goes..) You could probably make a drinking game when reading this book and you would get drunk by drinking every time he writes "So it goes"... This bothered me a little bit at first because he writes it sooo often, but after awhile i was keen to it.

I loved that a lot of it was based during WWII as this is one of my favorite parts of history to read/learn about. I will not go into detail because I don't want to spoil anything, but this is an amazing novel and I definitely recommend it!!!

Now I am hoping to not go back in to hiatus and continue reading on. Preston bought me "Memoirs of a Geisha" for Christmas. I have seen the movie numerous times and I am usually not a fan of reading books after watching the movie first. I am making an exception with this one. I'll make a post about it when I am finished. I am 99.9% positive it will be better than the movie and am excited to read about so much that was probably left out of the movie.
